RG-AP840-I is the next-generation flagship wireless AP launched by Ruijie to support the latest 802.11ax protocol for indoor scenarios in higher education, government, primary and secondary education, finance and commercial sector. With dual-radio technology, the AP offers up to 400 Mbps access rate for 2.4G and up to 4.8Gbps access rate for 5G. The AP provides a wireless access rate of 5.2 Gbps, eliminating the bottleneck for ultra-fast wireless performance.
With wireless network security, RF control, mobile access, QoS assurance, seamless roaming and other important factors considered, the RG-AP840-I can be deployed with Ruijie wireless controller to achieve wireless user data forwarding, security and access control.
The RG-AP840-I supports simultaneous operation in 802.11ax, 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11ac Wave 1 and 802.11n modes. With wall and ceiling mount options, the AP can be securely and conveniently installed in various positions, such as walls and ceilings. The RG-AP840-I supports local power supply and PoE, which can be flexibly selected according to the customer's site power supply environment. It is especially suitable for deployment in large campuses, enterprise offices and other high-density scenarios.
High-reliability 3-port design
With the 3-port network design, the RG-AP840-I not only solves the problem of interface data backup, but also provides flexible network modes for networks requiring internal and external network isolation. The LAN3 port also supports external power supply for PSE and other module expansions such as IoT to enrich application scenarios.
High-speed access rate 1024-QAM
The RG-AP840-I adopts the dual-band dual-radio design and 2G + 5G is recommended. With next-generation 802.11ax for 5G, the maximum access can reach 4.8Gbps. If dual radio is enabled at the same time, high-speed Wi-Fi can reach 5.2Gbps, delivering the true high-speed experience.
High-density OFDMA user access
The RG-AP840-I supports 802.11ax OFDMA, which divides the WLAN channel into a plurality of narrower sub-channels, with each user occupying one or more sub-channels. By scheduling multiple users to simultaneously receive and send packets through the AP, user competition and network delay can be reduced, improving network efficiency. In a high-density access and deployment environment, the average rate per user increases to four times that of 802.11ac.
BSS color spatial multiplexing
The RG-AP840-I supports 802.11ax Basic Service Set (BSS) color spatial multiplexing to identify the BSSs of different WLANs in the network by different colors (color BSS) and divide them into internal and external BSSs. Different packet receiving and sending thresholds can be maintained. When a packet is received, the BSS coloring is used to quickly determine the packet from the external BSS. If the signal strength is less than the receive threshold of the external BSS, the packet will be ignored. The internal BSS packet will not be affected. This technology can implement channel multiplexing in a high-density scenario, greatly reducing the impact of co-channel interference on the actual network deployment.
Energy-saving design
The RG-AP840-I adopts advanced power-saving features including single antenna standby technology, dynamic MIMO power-saving technology, enhanced transmission technology with automatic power saving, and per-packet power control technology. Together with the high-performance power supply design, the RG-AP840-I ensures high-speed wireless access while reducing power consumption.
Intelligent recognition function
The RG-AP840-I supports intelligent terminal recognition, which can identify PCs and smart mobile terminals, including iOS and Android.
Industry-leading local forwarding technology
By employing industry-leading local forwarding technology, the RG-AP840-I eliminates the traffic bottleneck of wireless controllers. In collaboration with the RG-WS series of wireless controllers, users can flexibly preconfigure the data forwarding mode for the RG-AP840-I. The local forwarding technology can determine whether to forward data to the wireless controller according to the user's SSID or VLAN, or directly send data to the wired network for data exchange.
Local forwarding technology can forward delay-sensitive, real-time data transmissions over the wired network. It significantly relieves traffic pressure on wireless controllers and better meets the high-traffic transmission requirements of the 802.11ax network.
Abundant QoS policies
The RG-AP840-I supports a wide range of QoS policies. For example, it provides bandwidth constraints in WLAN/AP/STA and Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) modes that define different priorities for different service data. The RG-AP840-I realizes timely and quantitative audio and video transmission and ensures the smooth operation of multimedia applications.
With the multicast-to-unicast conversion technology, the RG-AP840-I solves the problem of video delay due to packet loss or long delay in wireless video-on-demand (VoD) system. The RG-AP840-I greatly enhances the user experience with multicast video over wireless networks.
Secure User Access
The RG-AP840-I supports a wide range of authentication methods, such as web, 802.1x, MAC address and local authentication. The standard network access control system has a set of control policies in terms of user access, authorization, equipment compliance verification, network behavior monitoring, network attack prevention, etc. All these control features ensure that users are authenticated before accessing network services securely.
Virtual AP technology
With virtual AP technology, the RG-AP840-I supports up to 48 ESSIDs. The network administrator can encrypt and isolate separate VLANs or subnets with the same SSID. In this way, the implementation enables the specified authentication mode and encryption mechanism for each SSID.
Complete wireless protection
Together with the RG-SNC and RG-WS wireless controllers, the RG-AP840-I offers a wide range of security features including WIDS (Wireless Intrusion Detection System), RF interference monitoring, unauthorized AP containment, anti-ARP spoofing, DHCP protection and more for comprehensive security protection.
Multiple easy-to-use authentication options
Deployed with Ruijie authentication system or multi-service AC, the RG-AP840-I supports convenient Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP), SMS authentication and QR code authentication.
If users authenticate via PEAP, they only need to perform one-time password authentication. That means they only need to enter user credentials during their initial visit to the network.
If users authenticate via SMS, they must first log in with their cell phone numbers and then obtain usernames and passwords from the SMS sent to their cell phones.
QR code authentication is another method to facilitate user authentication. After accessing the wireless network, users will get a QR code that must be scanned by any authorized personnel to access the network.
Flexible switching between FAT/FIT modes (Stand-Alone /Controlled)
The RG-AP840-I supports flexible switching between FAT and FIT modes according to the network requirements of different industries. In FIT mode, installation can be completed without configuration, and the comprehensive remote management significantly improves the efficiency of wireless network operation, maintenance and management.
Web management interface
The RG-AP840-I provides a web management interface for AC and AP. Not only can wireless settings be easily implemented, but the entire wireless network can also be operated through the interface. Users can not only manage access points and connected users through the AC web interface, but can also limit the speed and user connection to the network, making it easy for IT staff to plan, operate and maintain the wireless network.
